A Polish and Ukrainian Evening

A Polish and Ukrainian Music Evening
Saturday, 2 July, 8 pm - St Catherine's Church
Admission free

On the first Saturday of July we shall host young artists from one of the partner cities of Toruń: Lutsk in Ukraine. The Young Violinists' Orchestra of Lutsk was founded in 1997 with a view to inviting young people to play in larger ensembles, teaching them play the violin and promoting the art of violin music. The Orchestra offers a rich repertoire ranging from ancient to contemporary compositions. The musicians, some of whom also perform solo parts, are between 9 and 15 years of age. They are often on tour, adding lustre to various festivities at school, in the city or in the region. The concert will include musical pieces by Ukrainian, Polish and other European composers.

The concert programme includes compositions by, amongst others, Henryk Wieniawski, Antonio Vivaldi, and Alexander Glazunov.

The concert is held under the Honorary Patronage of the Mayor of the City of Lutsk - Mr. Mykola Romaniuk
