Tuomas Pyrhönen – organ
Suvi Granberg – violin

The Church of St Stephen has astonishing acoustic features and for this reason, for yet another time, it will become the venue of one of the festival's concerts. Tuomas Pyrhönen, one of Finland's most energetic organists, will play selected pieces of Baroque music.  This period in the history of music emphasised the role of the organ: at the time it was the most suitable instrument for displaying the art of basso continuo in musical pieces for voice and instruments. The organ took various architectural forms, often fairly sophisticated and composed of a number of units. The violin accompaniment will be performed by Suvi Granberg. The violinist plays for Kymi Sinfonietta, the orchestra of the cities of Kotka and Kouvola in southern Finland.
