Roman Perucki - organs

Prof. Roman Perucki  - he has been a professor at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk since 1997 (from 1996 to 1999 he was at the post of the artistic deputy rector). He also teaches in the Complex of Music Schools in Gdańsk. He is the first organist of the Oliwa Cathedral, a member of the Liturgy Committee by the Metropolitan of Gdańsk and is often appointed to be a consultant in approving new instruments as well as in renovating historical organs in the archdiocese of Gdańsk and all over Poland. 

Prof. Roman Perucki plays concerts in Poland and abroad (Europe, USA, Japan, Australia, South America). He is a juror of numerous competitions, including the International Organ Contests in Kalern (Italy), Opavia (Czech Republic), Paris, St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad (Russia). He is the president and juror of the J. P. Sweelinck International Contest of Organ Music in Gdańsk. He trains musicians during mastery classes in Germany, Russia, France and Mexico and also lectures at some colleges and music schools in Poland. 

His work encompasses over 2,000 recitals. In 2005 only, he played in the famous cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris, in the cathedrals of Ghent, Lausanne (new organ), Brussels and Riga (the famous Dome Pipe Organ). He has been giving concerts during many prestigious international festivals and as a soloist or a group member of many groups: the Orchestra of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic, the Orchestra of the Polish Chamber Philharmonic, the Agnieszka Duczmal Orchestra, and the Nationale Porto Orchestra. He has also played together with many other eminent soloists. 

Perucki has made numerous recordings for the Polish Radio and Television, NDR, TV stations in the UK, Slovakia and other countries. So far, he has made 28 records. Bohdan Pociej from the “Ruch Muzyczny” magazine declared his recording of F. Couperin’s “Messe pour les Paroisses” as the best Polish classical music recording of 1991. His second record of music played at the Oliwa Cathedral was nominated to the Fryderyk - Polish Music Award. Perucki’s achievements include also a Platinum Record that was awarded to him for an album recorded in 1998. 

Prof. Roman Perucki is the chief manager of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic (from 1993 to 1997 he also was its artistic director) and the chairman of the “Musica Sacra” Pomeranian Society that organizes the International Organ Music Festival in the Oliwa Cathedral, the J. P. Sweelinck International Contest of Organ Music in Gdańsk, a series of concerts entitled “Closer to Bach”, concerts accompanying St. Dominic’s Fair in the Dominican church in Gdańsk, concerts in churches of Rumia, Wdzydze, Morąg, etc. Since 1999, he has been the chairman of the Society of the Oliwa Archcathedral Lovers and the president of the “Maria Cantat” Choir Festival, as well as a jury-member of the Religious Song Contest in Jastarnia and an organizer of the Sacral Music Festival in Gdynia. 

He is a holder of numerous distinctions and awards, including the highest papal cross “Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice”, the “Distinguished in Polish Culture” Gold Badge (2005), the City of Gdańsk Award in Culture, the “Gloria Artis - Distinguished in Polish Culture” medal (2007), the Pomeranian Griffin - Pomeranian Art Award (2006), and the Award of the Gdańsk Friends of Art Society. In March 2008, he was given the Order of St. Sylvester by the pope Benedict XVI.
