Wojciech Waleczek

Wojciech Waleczek is an acclaimed Polish pianist, professor of music, and an artist highly regarded for his interpretative maturity and profound reflection on the 19th-century piano repertoire. For over twenty-five years, he has maintained an intensive global concert schedule as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer. Waleczek’s dynamic career has taken him across 27 European nations, as well as spanning Asia, Africa, North America, and South America.

His international tours include celebrated appearances in: The United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and Kenya. His extensive performance history features recitals in renowned concert halls and appearances at major international music festivals.

As a soloist, he has collaborated with a vast roster of symphony and chamber orchestras, including: The Jerzy Semkow Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, The Beethoven Academy Orchestra, The Polish Chamber Philharmonic Sopot, The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, The Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, The National Chamber Orchestra of Moldova, The State Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan, The Symphony Orchestra of the National Theatre in Brazil, as well as numerous prestigious philharmonic orchestras throughout Poland.

Waleczek’s extensive discography includes highly praised recordings for the world-renowned labels Naxos and Capriccio. His album releases primarily centre on the solo and rare repertoire of Franz Liszt and Franz Schubert, with notable titles including: Grandes études de Paganini, Harmonies poétiques et religieuses, Schubert – Rarities and Short Piano Works, Weihnachtsbaum (2024).

He is a laureate of several prestigious international piano competitions. His accolades include top prizes at: The Arthur Rubinstein In Memoriam International Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz, The Franz Liszt “Premio Mario Zanfi” Piano Competition in Parma, The Seiler International Piano Competition in Palermo, The International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Wrocław.

Waleczek graduated with distinction from the Academy of Music in Katowice under the guidance of Professor Zbigniew Raubo. He went on to earn both his PhD and postdoctoral degree in music performance. In 2022, the President of the Republic of Poland officially awarded him the title of Professor of the Arts. Currently, he serves as a full professor at the University of Silesia in Katowice, where he leads an active artistic, research, and pedagogical career.

In recognition of his profound impact on cultural heritage and academic excellence, Wojciech Waleczek has been decorated with prestigious state and ministerial honours, including: The “Gloria Artis” Medal for Merit to Culture, The “Merit to Polish Culture” Badge, The Silver Cross of Merit and Bronze Cross of Merit, The Silver Badge of Honour for Services to the Silesian Voivodeship.
