In the upcoming evening, Korean soloists will sit at two pianos to take the audience on a captivating journey alongside the Toruń Symphony Orchestra under the masterful direction of Dainius Pavilionis. Together, they will bring to life the extraordinary works of Europe’s most renowned composers. The repertoire will feature the illustrious 17th Piano Concerto in G Major KV 453 by W. A. Mozart, a timeless masterpiece that stands as a beacon of perfection in the annals of classical solo concertos. Originally composed by Mozart for his student Barbara Ployer, this concerto exudes an intimate ambiance and delicate poeticism, captivating the hearts of all who listen. Additionally, the programme will include J. S. Bach’s Concerto in C minor for Two Pianos BWV 1060, showcasing the brilliance of this Baroque maestro who garnered universal admiration for his unwavering pursuit of ‘absolute sound’. Bach’s innovative approach elevated the piano to new heights, entrusting it with solo voices within some of the concertos. Next, prepare to be enthralled by the delightful Carnival of the Animals—an exuberant and vibrant composition that brings to life a whimsical zoological fantasy, brimming with colours and lively melodies. Concluding the evening is Mozart’s 10th Concerto for 2 Pianos in E-flat Major KV 365 which will envelope the audience in an atmosphere of playful and spirited competition.
