Music and space - Inauguration of the Festival

The upcoming edition of our festival presents a remarkable opportunity to immerse oneself in timeless musical masterpieces, set amidst the breathtaking architecture of Toruń. This extraordinary event calls for an inauguration that will captivate listeners and carry them into a world of enchanting melodies, perfectly suited to the historic ambience of our city. This year, the festival will commence with a selection of works that beautifully intertwine with the themes of space. These include: The first section of Richard Strauss’ tone poem Thus Spoke Zarathustra entitled Sunrise - this iconic piece evokes grandeur and splendour reminiscent of Hollywood, The Planets by G.T. Holst - a magnificent 7-movement opus originally composed for a large orchestra, together with a thought-provoking composition by a contemporary composer A. Wesołowski, entitled Dance of the Celestial Spheres. This intriguing piece, brimming with staggering symbolism, is a homage to the famous astronomer from Toruń, Nicolaus Copernicus.
